SUMMER PROGRAMS

Let’s Get Ready is an organization committed to helping you to and through college. Join us this summer for our 10-week Virtual Access program where we will help you prepare for the SAT’s and guide you through key steps of the college application process. This program is run through a partnership with Temple University. 

The program includes:

  • Mentoring and coaching by college students

  • Online SAT preparation

  • Assistance with college applications

  • Support with the financial aid process and scholarship applications

DEADLINE: Rolling through mid-June, but apply ASAP as space is limited

Requirements: Any rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior can apply!

Students entering grades 11 or 12 can experience Temple University academics while exploring potential college majors through non-credit workshops.

 

Scholars

  • Six weeks

  • For students entering grades 11 and 12

  • June 20- August 1

  • In-person and virtual options available

  • Take two college credit courses and one non-credit bearing course

  • Application necessary (transcript, essay, recommendation, test scores)

  • Deadline to apply is May 13

  • Eligible for Temple Tuition grant ($1,000 per year for four years)

 

Academy

  • Four weeks

  • For students entering grades 11 and 12

  • July 11- August 5

  • In-person and virtual options available

  • Take one college credit course and two non-credit bearing courses

  • Application necessary (transcript, essay, recommendation, test scores)

  • Deadline to apply is May 13

  • Eligible for Temple Tuition grant ($1,000 per year for four years)

 

Workshops

  • Two weeks

  • For students entering grades 9 - 12

  • Various dates available

  • Mostly in-person, some virtual options available

  • Take two non-credit courses

  • No application necessary, but interested students must register seven days before the start of a session

  • Not eligible for Temple Tuition grant ($1,000 per year for four years)

 

How to apply

Credit-bearing programs are eligible for scholarships! Interested students should apply to their program of choice first, and then complete the scholarship application.

 

Financial aid is also available! Students can apply here to be considered.

DEADLINE: Must register and pay $100 deposit 1 week prior to your chosen start date

An academically rigorous pre-college program for students entering grades 11 or 12. You'll experience the academics, energy, and culture of Temple University during this four-week online summer program. Join us online this summer to explore new subjects, dive into a current interest with intense focus, and earn college credit for one undergraduate course at Temple University.

This program runs from July 12 - August 6, 2021 and will take place online. 

Requirements: Must be entering 11th or 12th grade in 2021-2022. High school transcript, SAT/ACT scores OR academic writing sample, description of volunteer or student activities, and recommendation form from teacher or guidance counselor.

How to Apply: Visit the program site and click "Apply Now". You must have all application materials ready to submit, and have asked your guidance counselor or teacher for a recommendation before you apply. 

JOBS

WorkReady Summer jobs are a 6-week opportunity for Philadelphians ages 12-24. WorkReady partners with 70+ organizations providing 1,000+ places to work. 

 

Saul students get preference at our partner sites (like Food Moxie, Weavers Way). Ask them for a referral code!

Due to COVID-19, many WorkReady programs are now online! They have tons of programs available from the safety of your home. 

Requirements: Working papers, professional email address (not your Saul email), valid ID

ALTERNATIVES TO COLLEGE (FOR SENIORS)

Want to work with kids without an education degree, AND you want to save for college? A service year with City Year might be for you. Learn more about why this program changes lives here.

 

Requirements: High School Diploma/ GED, U.S. Citizen/legal resident

How to Apply: Apply online. Resume, short answer, and a reference required.

DEADLINE: Rolling

Serve for 10 months as a Corps Member and gain a variety of professional experiences while working with a team. Educate communities on sustainability and energy conservation, restore and build hiking trails, or build homes. You and your team will serve on at least four different projects in different states and cities within your assigned region of the country. You not only earn money, you also earn over $5k in grant money for college!

 

Requirements: High School Diploma/ GED, U.S. Citizen/legal resident

Same benefits as NCCC (pay, medical benefits, education grant), different program. Various paid service programs with commitments ranging from 300 hours to 1700 hours, part or full time. Areas of service could include Community and Nonprofit Development, Disaster Services, Economic and Workforce Development, Education, Energy and Conservation, Health and Nutrition, Legal Assistance, Tribes and Native American Affairs, Veterans and Military Families, Youth Development and Mentoring.
